This watch is based on an early case design set out by the British MOD in 1973, Although watches in 1973 could not compare to the watches of today when it comes to general performance standards such as water resistance and other features such as the sapphire crystal we have taken many of the design influences from the early 1970s design and incorporated them into this model. Many customers have been asking us to make this model for the last few years so we decided it was time to produce a small production run for some private customers and also some of our dealers, as a point of note although the original watches used tritium these versions use Luminova the encircled T has been retained for historical reasons. This case design is particularly interesting because it was the direct predecessor to the current case which is used for our watches in this range which itself does back to the late 1970s. The main improvements were the use of an automatic movement with a 60-hour power reserve which is exceptional today but unheard of over 20 years ago, the movement can also be hand wound and has hacking for synchronization. We also upgraded the crystal from hardened mineral glass to sapphire which is vastly superior due to being highly scratch and shatter resistant. The basic design of these MWC watches goes back to the British Ministry of Defence (MOD) specification shown in the final two images but this model is the closest to the 1973 pattern cases because the other models in the range are based on the case design which we used between from the early 1990s until 2004. The watch measures 45mm including the crown and 40mm excluding the crown although it uses the same 20mm military nylon webbing strap as many other current MWC military divers watches which enables you to choose from a vast variety of NATO strap variants. Squale 1521 Limited Edition 50 pieces Automatic Diver’s Watch RARE. Reluctant sale of my Squale 1521 Limited Edition. Condition is used however I have worn it occasionally of late. On 05/10/2018 and fitted a Nato strap and have kept it in a watch winder. Only very minor evidence of spring bar removal due to strap fitting & subsequent changes on lower/inside lug faces as pics. Slight wear marks to the brushed/satin finish on underside lugs where worn in contact with wrist/joint area. Minor marks to the brushed satin right hand upper lug face. Unfortunately the matt/satin/brushed/blasted finish is not quite as forgiving as the polished Squale cases in my opinion. Some slight marks on polished case back. Accuracy tested at +16 seconds over a 24 hour period on the winder. Comes with the 2 originally supplied and unworn matching Squale rubber & black leather straps, plus a suede strap that is worn but will include FREE. Nato that I used, as pictured, will be washed & included with watch sale also for FREE. So comes with 4 straps, 2 new unworn and 2 used supplied FREE. Underwater that caresses the shark. First 1521 with automatic movement ETA 2824-2 elaborates. Bottom and screw crown. Sequential on the case back 1-50. The bezel replicates a watch created for an elite department of the post-war German army that carried out submarine operations only with the help of cylinders. Just the fact of breathing with the cylinders made the measurement of the hours only necessary, hence the realization of the so-called sterile ring, with the presence of only the Dot needed to measure the 60 minutes. For the realization of this fantastic watch, the company Squale Milano and Fabrizio Vellesi of the Horus Watches and Diamonds of Porto Recanati jewelery are to be thanked. UNIMATIC U1-MP Watch Limited Edition Sterile bezel. 300m water resistant diver. As you may well know Unimatic are an Italian microbrand. This particular model was exclusive to Mr Porter and is limited to 100 pieces. It contains a Seiko automatic movement. 40mm with sapphire crystal.
